Despite being fully aware that the EU’s privacy laws regarding websites are a complete waste of time and space and were obviously dreamt up by some suited-up pen pusher who has no idea how computers or the internet even work, we have to look like we are doing something about it.
Basically, this site uses a few cookies. Chocolate Digestive biscuits were also consumed during the build process and I guarantee that is more interesting - and certainly more relevant - than the ridiculous EU related gubbins below.
This website, like virtually all websites we build, is programmed in something called ColdFusion. This is a programming language that allows a webpage to talk to a database. A lot of what you see on this site is actually crap that has been pulled from a database (this is so I can update text from a secure administration panel anywhere in the world as long as I have access to the internet. Clever eh?) Anyway, ColdFusion sets a cookie whenever a page is accessed. This cookie does nothing of importance. The only other ColdFusion cookie used is for a secure login area that some of our clients use to access their own clever control panels. All this cookie does is create a unique identifier so the computer can remember who that person is and keep them logged in. Unfortunately, computers don’t have real brains yet.
